Several energy related proposals were major issues in the State House during the last legislative session, including carbon taxes, additional renewable energy laws, and better options for using energy efficiency charges. There are also proceedings ongoing or expected before the Public Utility Commission that could have immediate or long term impacts on energy costs. With Vermont’s energy costs, particularly electric rates, a core factor in our economic competitiveness challenges, awareness and engagement in energy issues in and out of the State House will be critical for Vermont manufacturers.
Action Request | Contact AIV to Stay Informed and Engaged
AIV has long played a leading role in addressing energy issues facing Vermont’s commercial and industrial customers over the years. All manufacturers and related businesses are strongly encouraged to familiarize themselves with the issues and proposals we can expect to face, and to contact us at email@example.com to learn more about them and the options and opportunities to keep informed, coordinate with peers, and to engage with the Administration and legislators on those issues that could significantly impact their operations. It would be very helpful if you could provide us with a lead contact person in your company to help coordinate information and activities related to energy issues.
