The Week Ahead in Committee | Week of March 9

Economic and Workforce Development.  The House Commerce and Economic Development Committee will discuss H.642, addressing tax increment project development financing, Tuesday and Thursday, and H.641, on Thursday, and will discuss H.703, addressing the creation of a workforce development provider portal, Wednesday.

Labor and Workplace.  The House Commerce and Economic Development Committee will discuss H.631, addressing miscellaneous workers’ compensation amendments, Tuesday.

Coronavirus.  Several committees will receive a joint briefing on COVID-19 updates Tuesday.

Product Regulation.  The Senate Health and Welfare Committee will discuss S.295, banning PFAS, Bisphenols, and Phthalates from a number of products and packaging, Wednesday.  The Senate Natural Resources and Energy Committee will discuss amendments to S.227 to move toward requiring Extended Producer Responsibility (manufacturer financial liability for recycling and related costs) for packaging Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Energy.  The Senate Finance Committee will vote on S.267, expanding renewable energy mandates with significant costs to ratepayers, Tuesday, and will vote on S.337, diverting Energy Efficiency Charge revenues, Wednesday.  The Senate Natural Resources and Energy Committee will discuss S.267 Thursday and Friday.

Taxes and Fees.  The Ways and Means Committee will discuss possible changes to corporate income tax apportionment and related issues Tuesday.
