US Commerce Seeks Input on Section 232 Transformer Investigation

On May 19, the US Commerce Department Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) published a notice in the Federal Register (click here) soliciting public comment on the Section 232 investigation recently launched (click here for more) into possible national security risks associated with the importation of laminations for stacked cores for incorporation into transformers, stacked and wound cores for incorporation into transformers, electrical transformers, and transformer regulators.  Electrical equipment manufacturers considered most likely to be impacted by potential limits on imports.  BIS is accepting comments until June 8.
