FEMA has issued a new rule that extends and modifies restrictions on exports of certain types of PPE. The export restrictions are extended through December 31 and apply to surgical N95 filtering facepiece respirators, surgical masks, nitrile gloves, Level 3 and 4 surgical gowns, and surgical isolation gowns.
Other filtering facepiece respirators and elastomeric, air-purifying respirators have been removed from the list of covered export-restricted products. The 11 existing exemptions will continue.
FEMA is also asking for public comment through September 15 on the requirement to submit a letter of attestation to Customs and Border Protection under certain exemptions to this rule. You can learn more about how to provide comments clicking here.
