This Week in Committees | Week of January 30

The House Commerce and Economic Development Committee will discuss H.55, making miscellaneous changes to UI (particularly for reimbursable and non-profit organizations) and H.92, expanding UI for certain voluntary separation circumstances, Thursday (AIV will be testifying).  The Committee will discuss H.10, making changes to the Vermont Employment Growth Incentive program, Friday.

The House Environment and Energy Committee will discuss H.67, requiring manufacturers to pay for handing waste management for household products considered household hazardous waste, Tuesday and Friday (AIV testified on the issue last week – watch for related future post).

The House General and Housing Committee will discuss H.66, imposing mandatory paid family and medical leave financed through payroll taxes, Tuesday and Wednesday (see related post here).

The House Ways and Means Committee will discuss this year’s Miscellaneous Tax Bill through the week.

The Senate Economic Development, Housing, and General Affairs Committee will discuss their Omnibus Housing Bill through the week.

The Senate Finance Committee will discuss the costs and financing options for child care Wednesday and family leave Thursday.

The Senate Health and Welfare Committee will take a first look at S.25, addressing chemicals in cosmetics, fabrics, and athletic turf, Friday.

The Senate Natural Resources and Energy Committee will discuss S.5, imposing a Clean Heat Standard program, through the week.
