The Week in Committees | Week of February 20

Economic Development.  The House Commerce and Economic Development Committee will discuss H.10, making changes to the Vermont Employment Growth Initiative program, through the week.  The Senate Economic Development, Housing, and General Affairs Committee will seek to complete work on its Omnibus Housing bill by Wednesday.

Labor and Workplace Regulation.  The House Commerce and Economic Development Committee will take up H. 217, making miscellaneous changes to workers’ compensation, including updating the workers’ compensation surcharge, Wednesday.  The Committee will take up an amended version of H.55, making changes to UI rules for nonprofits and other provisions, Thursday. The House Ways and Means Committee will discuss H.66, imposing mandatory paid family and medical leave and expanding unpaid leave coverage, through the week.  Both the House General and Housing Committee and Senate Economic Development, Housing, and General Affairs Committee will hold general introductions and discussion of a variety of labor and workplace bills and issues through the week.

Product and Company Regulation.  The House Commerce and Economic Development Committee will walk through H.121, enhancing consumer privacy, Wednesday and Thursday.  The House Environment and Energy Committee will discuss H.158, expanding the bottle bill, Wednesday and Thursday.

Environmental Regulation.  The House Environment and Energy Committee will discuss H.126, seeking the preservation of up to 50% of Vermont land, Tuesday and Wednesday.
