The Week in Committees | Week of April 17

Product Regulation.  The House Commerce and Economic Development Committee will discuss H.81, addressing right to repair for agricultural equipment, Thursday and Friday.  The Senate Natural Resources and Energy Committee will discuss and possibly vote on H.158, expanding Vermont’s beverage container redemption system, Thursday, and will start discussing H.67, imposing manufacturer responsibility for paying for collection of consumer products considered household hazardous waste, Friday.

Economic Development.  The House Environment and Energy Committee will discuss S.100, addressing housing, through the week. The Senate Economic Development, Housing, and General Affairs Committee will discuss H.484, addressing workforce development, through the week.

Labor and Workplace Issues.  The House General and Housing Committee will discuss S.103, lowering standards for harassment in the workplace and making other workplace changes, through the week.  The Senate Economic Development, Housing, and General Affairs Committee will discuss H.217, making miscellaneous changes to workers’ compensation, Thursday.

Taxes and Fees.  The House Human Services Committee will discuss S.56, increasing taxpayer funded child care spending, through the week.  The House Ways and Means Committee will discuss new or increased tax options to pay for S.56 through the week.

Energy.  The House Appropriations Committee is expected to consider S.5, imposing a Clean Heat Standard program, this week.  The Senate Natural Resources and Energy Committee will discuss legislation to amend Vermont’s Renewable Energy Standard Tuesday and possibly vote Wednesday.
