The AIV Difference:  Engagement

Opportunities to Get Involved

AIV provides a full range of opportunities for involvement and advocacy on policy issues.  Members can benefit from our collective advocacy in the State House, before the Administration and congressional delegation, and in the media, or get directly involved themselves through personal or written testimony, meetings, letters to the editor, and other activities we support and facilitate.

Key to AIV's success is bringing members directly into contact with decision-makers.  AIV has consistent success in bringing members together with legislators and administration officials through hearings and special meetings, including one-on-one meetings to discuss concerns of individual companies.  Such direct contact is invaluable in helping lawmakers and agency leaders understand the needs and concerns of Vermont's employers.

AIV also maintains several volunteer task forces to develop policy positions and action campaigns on issues of importance to Vermont's industrial and business community.  Our task forces are made up of representatives of interested member companies, with frequent interaction with members of the state legislature, agencies, and administration officials.

The number and focus of task forces evolve as developments warrant.  AIV has worked with task forces on:

  • Product and Materials Regulation

  • Energy Policy

  • Human Resources Policy

  • Environmental and Land Use Regulation

  • Tax Policy and Economic Development

  • Forest Policy

  • Transportation Policy
